Who supplies water and sewer on Singer Island
Singer Island is not a city. It is a peninsula in Palm Beach County, mostly inside the City of Riviera Beach, with the Town of Palm Beach Shores (incorporated 1951) on the southern tip and John D. MacArthur Beach State Park at the north end.
On the Riviera Beach side, water and wastewater collection come from the City of Riviera Beach Utility Special District. Its service area runs from the Florida Turnpike east to the ocean. The district also lists a 2022 water main improvement project in Palm Beach Shores, so it appears to supply water there too. Your bill will confirm it. Problems at the meter or a city main are the district's job. Pipes on your side of the meter, and your building's sewer connection, are usually the owner's, and that is where we work. Septic is not the typical setup inside the city sewer area, but our septic crews will pump or inspect any tank you do have.
Condo stacks, seasonal units and older Shores homes
Condominiums far outnumber single-family homes on the island. In any tower, kitchen and laundry drains from many units share vertical stacks, so a restriction in one stack shows up in somebody else's unit. Seasonal ownership adds risk. Palm Beach Shores counted 1,279 housing units in the 2020 census and 38.9 percent were vacant on census day. A leak in an empty unit can run for days.
A. O. Edwards bought the southern end of the island in 1947, when it had long been a fishing community, and developed it as Palm Beach Shores. The town still has many mid-century homes. Houses from those decades may still have original cast iron drains, which scale up inside while salt air works on the outside.
Salt air, erosion and coastal permits
Salt air seizes exposed brass and copper, starting with outdoor shower valves, hose bibs and balcony fixtures. Forcing a corroded hose bib can crack the pipe behind the wall.
Northern Singer Island has severe beach erosion, with waves hitting condo seawalls at the mean high water line. As of June 2026, Riviera Beach was seeking state approval for an emergency dune project of about $6 million, covering 1.2 miles from the Cote D'Azur condominiums to the Water Glades. Exterior line work seaward of Florida DEP's Coastal Construction Control Line may need a state CCCL permit on top of local permits, so confirm where the line falls before any digging near the dune. Flood designations differ by address. Look up yours on FEMA's Flood Map Service Center before moving a water heater or adding a ground-floor bath.
Tap water and the treatment plant changeover
The city's 2024 water quality report lists 28 wells drawing from the East Coast Surficial Aquifer. Riviera Beach softens that water at a lime plant rated at 17.5 million gallons a day and disinfects it with chlorine and ammonia, which form chloramine. Standard carbon removes chloramine more slowly than chlorine, so pick catalytic carbon for filtration. In February 2026 the city broke ground on a $280 million membrane plant using nanofiltration and reverse osmosis, with substantial completion targeted for February 2029. Water chemistry may shift once it runs.
Services Singer Island owners request
Some associations jet and camera their stacks on a set schedule to catch buildup before it surfaces in a unit. The board sets the interval, and camera footage shows if it is working.

- Sewer camera inspection of stacks and building sewers
- Tank and tankless water heaters, including tight condo closets
- Leak and slab leak detection, including leaks into the unit below
- Supply line, shut-off and riser valve replacement
- Cast iron pipe rejuvenation
- Sewer line and water line repair
- Filtration and softeners matched to chloramine-treated water
- 24/7 emergency plumbing, residential and commercial
- Septic pumping and inspection for any property with a tank
What happens when you call
A live dispatcher answers (561) 970-9282 around the clock. We own our pump trucks and excavation equipment. The plumber diagnoses the problem and gives you an upfront price before work begins. Condo towers usually require the building manager to approve access and any riser shut-off, so let the manager know when you book.
LCI holds Florida Certified Plumbing Contractor license CFC1427175 and brings 32 years of plumbing and septic experience. We are rated 4.7 stars from more than 950 Google reviews.
Buying or selling on the island
A general home inspection rarely looks inside drain lines. Before closing on a Singer Island condo, ask for a camera inspection of the unit's branch line to the stack, a check of the water heater's age and pan, and a test of every shut-off. Ask the association for its stack maintenance records and backup history.
For a single-family home, a camera run of the building sewer to the city connection shows roots, cast iron scale and sags before they become your repair. If a property you are buying elsewhere in Palm Beach County has a septic system, we do real estate septic inspections. Florida DEP has run the state's septic program since July 1, 2021.

DetailsSo nice to have a company that actually knows what they are doing. Had two companies come to find my septic tank with no luck. Joel able to find the tank in five minutes. My tank was serviced and my drain field rejuvenated. Couldn’t have asked for a better service.

FAQ
Plumbing & septic in Singer Island
Should I call the city or a plumber for a water or sewer problem on Singer Island?
Call the City of Riviera Beach Utility Special District for trouble at the meter or a city main: (561) 845-4185, or (561) 845-4187 for breaks after hours. A backed-up stack, a leak in your unit or a failed water heater is private plumbing, so call us at (561) 970-9282. In Palm Beach Shores, check your bill for the sewer provider.
Why does my lower-floor Singer Island condo back up when upstairs units use water?
Your drains share a vertical stack with the units above. When buildup narrows it, wastewater from higher floors comes out at the lowest open drain, often a kitchen sink or tub. Jetting and a camera run find the restriction. The association usually handles the work because the stack serves every unit on that line.
Should I shut off the water when I leave my Singer Island condo for the season?
Yes. Close the unit's main shut-off and set the water heater to vacation mode or off, following building rules. A failed supply hose in an empty unit can soak the unit below for days. We can check that your main valve actually seals before you go.
Do I need a water softener on Singer Island?
Often not yet. Riviera Beach lime-softens its water at the plant, so it arrives softer than raw well water. The new membrane plant may change water chemistry after its targeted 2029 completion. A chloramine-rated filter is usually the better buy today, with a fresh look at softening after the switch.
What should I do after a boil-water notice on Singer Island?
Follow the utility's instructions until the notice is lifted. The Riviera Beach district has issued one for Gulfstream Way, Pine Point Road and North Ocean Drive addresses 3962 to 5480 after a defective valve dropped pressure. Afterward, run each faucet for a few minutes, discard ice made during the notice and replace filter cartridges that were in service.
Can city sewer back up into a Singer Island home?
It can. When a main or lift station backs up, sewage rises out of the lowest open drain, which in a ground-level home is usually a tub, shower or toilet. A backwater valve plus an accessible cleanout is the standard protection. A camera inspection shows if your line can take one.
